Asset-intensive organisations depend on IFS Cloud Asset Management configuration to turn maintenance policies into controlled, executable work. Poorly configured object structures, maintenance plans, work order flows, failure reporting or approval rules can create duplicate data, missed preventive work, unreliable asset history and weak cost visibility. This course addresses the practical configuration decisions that determine whether planners, technicians, supervisors and reliability teams can use IFS Cloud consistently across the asset lifecycle.
Participants learn how to configure the core records and business rules behind an operational asset-management process in IFS Cloud. Coverage includes functional objects and equipment structures, maintenance organisations, work order and service request processes, preventive maintenance plans, standard jobs, permits, material and resource requirements, failure codes, meter readings, security roles and operational reporting. Participants gain the ability to translate agreed maintenance requirements into configured IFS Cloud records, workflows and control points rather than relying on generic system defaults.
The five-day programme combines instructor-led demonstrations with guided configuration work in a training environment. Each day uses a realistic plant-maintenance scenario, progressing from asset-register design through to work execution, history capture and performance reporting. Participants finish with an asset-management configuration workbook containing their proposed object hierarchy, maintenance-plan design, work-order status flow, code structures, role controls and reporting measures. This provides a practical starting point for configuration, testing or governance discussions at work. A certificate of completion is issued after the course.

Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand basic maintenance-management concepts, including assets or functional locations, corrective and preventive maintenance, work orders, spare parts and maintenance history. Experience using IFS Cloud, IFS Applications or another EAM/CMMS system is useful, particularly navigating records and lists, but prior IFS Cloud configuration experience is not required. Attendees should be comfortable discussing their organisation’s maintenance process and reading simple process maps. No programming, database administration, API development or advanced reliability-engineering qualification is required. Complete beginners can attend, but should expect to spend time learning core asset-management terminology alongside the IFS Cloud configuration approach.
Training methodology
The course is delivered through instructor-led explanations, live IFS Cloud demonstrations and structured configuration labs in a training tenant. Participants work through a connected maintenance scenario: creating an asset structure, defining maintenance rules, generating work, recording completion and reviewing resulting history. Short case discussions examine the consequences of poor master data, uncontrolled status changes and unusable failure codes. Small-group reviews compare configuration choices against operational requirements. On the final day, each participant consolidates their design into a configuration workbook and prioritised application plan for their own environment.
