Terms of Service — Skillset Development
Last updated 16 September 2026
These terms apply when you book a place on a Skillset Development course, whether you book for yourself or your organisation books on your behalf. Please read them before confirming a booking.
1. Booking and confirmation
Submitting the booking form is a request for a place, not a confirmed seat. Your place is confirmed when we send you a written confirmation with your booking reference. We may decline or cancel a booking where a course is full, where prerequisites are clearly not met, or where fees remain unpaid.
2. Fees and payment
- Course fees are stated per participant on each course page and include tuition, course materials, exercise files and the certificate of completion. Classroom deliveries also include refreshments and lunch on each training day.
- Fees exclude travel, visas, airport transfers and accommodation unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
- We issue an invoice on confirmation. Payment is due in full before the course begins unless we have agreed credit terms in writing with your organisation.
- Bank charges and currency conversion costs are payable by you.
- Group rates are available from five participants. Contact us and we will send a proforma invoice at the group rate.
3. Substitutions, transfers and cancellations
Substituting a participant
You may substitute another participant at no charge at any time before the course starts. Tell us the replacement's details so we can prepare materials and the certificate.
Transferring to another date
You may transfer once to another scheduled run of the same course free of charge if you tell us at least 14 days before the start date, subject to availability. Later transfers, or a second transfer, may attract an administration fee.
Cancelling
| Notice given before the start date | Refund |
|---|---|
| More than 21 days | Full refund, less any unrecoverable bank charges |
| 14 to 21 days | 50% refund, or full credit towards a future course within 12 months |
| Fewer than 14 days, or non-attendance | No refund; substitution remains available |
Cancellations must be sent in writing to info@skillsetdevelopment.com and take effect on the date we receive them.
4. Changes or cancellation by us
We occasionally have to change a venue, facilitator, date or delivery format. Where we make a material change we will tell you as soon as we can and you may transfer to another date or receive a full refund. If we cancel a course entirely we refund the fee in full.
We are not liable for travel, accommodation or visa costs you incur, so please confirm with us that a course is running before booking non-refundable travel.
5. Visas and travel
You are responsible for obtaining any visa or travel documents required to attend a classroom course. We will supply a supporting invitation letter on request once your fee is paid. A visa refusal is treated under the cancellation terms above.
6. Certificates
Participants who attend the full course receive a certificate of completion stating the course title, course code, dates and delivery format. We do not award academic credit, and unless a course page expressly says otherwise, our courses are not accredited by a third-party awarding body.
7. Course materials and intellectual property
All course content, workbooks, exercise files, templates and website material remain the intellectual property of Skillset Development. You may use them for your own professional purposes. You may not reproduce, publish, resell or deliver them as training to others without our written permission.
8. Participant conduct
We expect a professional and respectful learning environment. We may ask a participant to leave, without refund, where their behaviour disrupts the course or endangers others.
9. In-house and tailored training
In-house deliveries are governed by the written proposal and schedule agreed for that engagement, which takes precedence over these terms where the two differ.
10. Liability
We deliver our courses with reasonable skill and care. Our total liability arising from a booking is limited to the fee paid for that booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or business opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute, without preventing us from seeking to resolve matters amicably first.
