Course overview

HSE teams often collect incident, near-miss, hazard observation and corrective-action data in Intelex but struggle to turn it into reliable management information. Inconsistent classifications, incomplete investigations, overdue actions and poorly designed reports weaken trend analysis and make it difficult to demonstrate control to senior leaders, auditors and regulators. This course addresses the operational gap between recording an event and using verified HSE data to prevent recurrence, prioritise risk controls and report performance with confidence.

Participants work through the Intelex HSE environment with a focus on Incident Management, action tracking and reporting. They learn to create and quality-check incident records; apply event, injury, severity and root-cause classifications; route records through workflow stages; manage investigations and corrective actions; and build role-relevant reports, dashboards and KPI views. The course also covers data governance, report filters, calculated measures, scheduled distribution and the interpretation of leading and lagging indicators against ISO 45001 reporting expectations.

Delivered over five instructor-led days in a classroom or live online setting, the programme combines guided system demonstrations with realistic HSE scenarios from manufacturing, construction, energy and corporate operations. Participants configure and process a sample incident case, investigate its causes, assign actions, produce management reports and present findings from a dashboard. They leave with an Incident-to-Insight Reporting Pack: a documented workflow map, reporting requirements matrix, KPI definitions, report specifications and a practical 90-day application plan for their own Intelex environment.

The course is designed for HSE practitioners, system owners and operational managers who already work with structured HSE data and need to improve the quality, traceability and usefulness of Intelex reporting and incident-management processes.

Requirements and prerequisites

Participants should have working knowledge of HSE incident reporting, including the difference between an incident, near miss, hazard observation, corrective action and root cause. Familiarity with their organisation’s reporting categories, investigation process and basic HSE KPIs is expected. Participants should also be comfortable navigating web-based business applications and working with filters, tables and exported data. Prior use of Intelex is helpful but not essential; guided exercises introduce the relevant functions. No programming, database administration, API development or advanced statistical modelling experience is required.

Training methodology

An Intelex-focused instructor leads short demonstrations followed by guided practice in a training environment. Participants process a realistic incident from initial notification through investigation, action assignment, verification and closure, then use the resulting records to build reports and KPI views. Small-group workshops test classification choices, root-cause logic and dashboard interpretation against management scenarios. Daily review clinics resolve configuration and data-quality issues. On the final day, each participant converts course outputs into an implementation plan tailored to their own reporting roles, workflow gaps and governance priorities.
