Course overview
Telecom network transformation programmes must coordinate RAN modernisation, fibre rollout, cloud-native core migration, OSS/BSS integration, spectrum obligations, vendor dependencies and live-service risk. Traditional PMO reporting often struggles to show whether delivery teams are releasing usable network capability, removing deployment blockers or meeting regulatory and customer-impact targets. This course helps PMO professionals and transformation leaders establish an Agile PMO that provides disciplined portfolio control without slowing engineering teams working across multiple network domains and suppliers.
Participants learn how to translate strategic network objectives into outcome-based roadmaps, portfolio backlogs, release plans and measurable transformation increments. The course covers Agile PMO operating models, hybrid governance, dependency management, capacity planning, value-stream metrics, RAID management, vendor performance controls and executive reporting. Participants practise using Jira Software, Microsoft Project and Power BI to connect team delivery data with programme milestones, budget forecasts, network KPIs and management decisions.
Teaching is built around a telecom transformation case involving a 5G RAN upgrade, cloud core deployment and OSS integration across several regions. Participants work in groups to design governance cadences, prioritise a portfolio backlog, map dependencies, build a delivery dashboard and prepare an escalation path for critical risks. Each participant leaves with an Agile PMO implementation pack: a target operating model, portfolio Kanban design, reporting dashboard specification, governance calendar and 90-day adoption plan that can be adapted to their own transformation portfolio.

Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should have practical experience working on projects, programmes or operational change in a telecom, network infrastructure or technology environment. They should understand basic project controls such as milestones, risks, dependencies, budgets and status reporting, plus the purpose of Agile concepts including backlogs, sprints, increments and retrospectives. Familiarity with Jira, Microsoft Project or a similar planning tool is useful but not essential. Participants do not need to be certified Scrum practitioners, data analysts or network engineers, and no prior Power BI development experience is required.
Training methodology
The course combines instructor-led briefings with telecom-specific workshops, using a realistic network transformation portfolio rather than generic software examples. Participants analyse delivery data for a 5G RAN, cloud-native core and OSS integration programme; configure portfolio views in Jira Software; test schedule scenarios in Microsoft Project; and define executive measures in Power BI. Facilitated group reviews simulate investment boards, vendor escalations and release-readiness sessions. The final session converts the case learning into an individual 90-day Agile PMO implementation plan for the participant’s own environment.

- Portfolio Kanban policies for demand intake, approval, delivery and benefits tracking

- Critical-path analysis for site rollout, integration and cutover activities
- Capacity allocation across internal engineering teams, managed services and suppliers
Workshop: Participants build a prioritised portfolio backlog and dependency board for a regional 5G rollout and cloud-core migration.
Day 3: Delivery control, risk and supplier governance
