Course overview

Supply chain teams need plans that connect demand, inventory, supply, capacity and financial implications without waiting for spreadsheet consolidation. This course addresses the practical challenge of building and maintaining Anaplan models that let planners test assumptions, expose constraints and publish an agreed operational plan. Participants learn how to replace disconnected forecast files and manual allocation logic with governed, driver-based planning models that support monthly S&OP, weekly supply reviews and exception-based decision-making.

The course covers Anaplan model architecture for supply chain use cases, including lists, hierarchies, modules, line items, versions, time settings, formulas, import actions and dashboards in the Anaplan UX. Participants build demand plans, inventory projections, supply and capacity calculations, constrained allocation logic and scenario comparisons. They also learn to structure data flows from ERP and forecasting sources, apply model-building standards, configure role-based access, and diagnose common formula, dimensionality and performance problems.

Instruction combines guided demonstrations with a running manufacturer case study. Each participant develops a working supply chain planning model containing product-location hierarchies, demand inputs, inventory policies, supply assumptions, capacity constraints and management-facing pages. The final deliverable is a documented Anaplan planning prototype, including a model map, calculation logic, import design and a short implementation backlog that can be adapted to the participant's own planning environment.

Requirements and prerequisites

Complete beginners should expect a technically hands-on week with structured guidance.

Training methodology

The instructor teaches each concept through a supply chain planning case involving a multi-site manufacturer, then participants configure the same capability in Anaplan. Short demonstrations are followed by individual model-building tasks covering hierarchies, formulas, imports, UX pages and scenario analysis. Groups review planning trade-offs such as capacity shortages, delayed supply and safety-stock changes, using the model outputs to justify actions.
