Course overview
Healthcare supply chain teams work with products that cannot simply be treated as standard inventory. Implantable devices, pharmaceuticals, sterile supplies, laboratory reagents and cold-chain items require accurate lot, serial, expiry, location and usage records. When ERP master data is incomplete, replenishment parameters are poorly set or purchasing and clinical consumption are not connected, the consequences include stockouts, excess expiry risk, unplanned substitutions, invoice mismatches and weakened recall readiness. This course addresses the operational gap between ERP capability and the controls healthcare supply chains need every day.
Participants examine how healthcare supply chain processes are designed and governed in enterprise resource planning environments, from item master creation and supplier records through procure-to-pay, inventory control, demand planning and recall traceability. They practise defining healthcare-specific item attributes, setting min/max and reorder-point policies, using lot and serial tracking, interpreting inventory and procurement reports, resolving three-way-match exceptions, and building dashboard measures for service level, expiry exposure, fill rate and purchase-price variance. The course uses examples applicable to SAP S/4HANA and Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM while focusing on transferable process and data-control methods.
Instructor-led demonstrations are combined with guided configuration scenarios, data-analysis exercises and a five-day hospital supply chain case. Teams work from a realistic dataset covering pharmacy, operating theatre and central stores transactions, identify control failures, and redesign key ERP workflows. Each participant leaves with a Healthcare ERP Supply Chain Improvement Pack: an item-master governance checklist, replenishment policy, traceability test script, KPI dashboard specification and 90-day implementation action plan.

Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should have practical experience in a healthcare supply chain, procurement, pharmacy logistics, inventory control or ERP support role. They should understand purchase orders, goods receipts, inventory movements, supplier records, stock counts and basic spreadsheet analysis. Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or another ERP platform is useful, but prior configuration experience is not required. Participants do not need programming, database administration, advanced statistics or clinical qualifications. The course assumes that attendees can interpret operational reports and are prepared to work with healthcare product, transaction and inventory scenarios.
Training methodology
The course uses short instructor-led briefings followed by structured work in healthcare ERP scenarios. Participants inspect item-master records, purchase orders, receipts, inventory transactions and exception reports drawn from a hospital case covering pharmacy, theatres and central stores. Small groups configure policy decisions on worksheets, calculate replenishment settings, test a mock recall and define dashboard measures. Facilitated reviews compare operational, finance and clinical perspectives. On the final day, each participant converts the case learning into a workplace improvement plan with named data owners, controls, milestones and success measures.

Day 2: Procure-to-pay and clinical supply replenishment
