Course overview
Organisational change programmes often fail because leaders receive late, ambiguous or fragmented feedback about employee confidence, manager capability and readiness to adopt new ways of working. Microsoft Viva Glint gives organisations a structured way to measure sentiment, identify patterns across teams and turn survey evidence into accountable action. This five-day course equips change and people leaders to use Viva Glint as an operational listening system before, during and after a transformation, rather than as a once-a-year engagement survey.
Participants learn how to frame change-readiness questions, configure an appropriate Viva Glint survey programme, protect confidentiality, interpret response rates and reporting thresholds, and distinguish organisation-wide signals from local team issues. They practise analysing favourability, driver relationships, comments and demographic cuts; prioritising focus areas; and helping managers create practical action plans. The course also applies stakeholder mapping, Prosci ADKAR and change communications planning so that survey findings are connected to adoption decisions, manager interventions and leadership updates.
Teaching combines instructor-led Viva Glint demonstrations with guided configuration exercises, realistic change cases, report-analysis workshops and peer review of action plans. Participants work through a simulated technology transformation and build a reusable change listening blueprint: a survey design, reporting plan, stakeholder segmentation, manager action-plan template, communications cadence and success measures. They leave with a certificate of completion and a documented approach they can adapt for their next change initiative.
The course is suited to professionals who already support employee listening, organisational change, HR strategy or workforce transformation and need to make employee feedback more timely, credible and actionable. It is equally valuable to managers sponsoring change who need to understand what Viva Glint evidence can—and cannot—tell them about adoption risk.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Design a Viva Glint change-readiness survey programme with defined audiences, timing, confidentiality settings and reporting groups
- Write behaviour-based survey items that measure awareness, confidence, manager support, capability and commitment during change
- Segment change stakeholders using a stakeholder map and translate groups into appropriate Viva Glint reporting populations
- Interpret favourability scores, response rates, heat maps, driver results and employee comments to identify adoption risks
- Apply the Prosci ADKAR Model to connect Viva Glint findings with targeted change interventions
- Create manager-ready action plans with focus areas, owners, milestones, measures and follow-up listening points
- Build an executive change-insight narrative using Viva Glint reporting and Microsoft Power BI visualisations
- Produce a change listening blueprint covering survey governance, communications, escalation routes and success measures
Benefits of attending
For you
- Gain practical credibility as a change practitioner who can use employee listening data to challenge assumptions and recommend interventions
- Build a reusable Viva Glint survey and reporting design that can be adapted for restructures, technology rollouts or culture change
- Learn to brief senior leaders with evidence-based change insights rather than anecdotal stakeholder feedback
- Develop the confidence to coach managers through sensitive team results while respecting confidentiality thresholds
- Create portfolio-ready change listening artefacts, including a survey blueprint, action-plan template and executive insight narrative
For your organisation
- Detect declining confidence, weak manager support and capability gaps before they become visible adoption failures
- Improve the quality and consistency of manager follow-up by using structured focus areas and accountable action plans
- Reduce survey fatigue by aligning question sets, audience segments and pulse timing to specific change decisions
- Give programme sponsors clearer evidence for prioritising communications, training, leadership attention and local support
- Establish repeatable governance for confidential employee listening across transformation programmes and business units
Target competencies
Who should attend
- Change Managers — who need reliable employee evidence to steer adoption interventions during transformation
- Employee Experience Managers — who design listening strategies and must convert engagement data into action
- HR Business Partners — who advise leaders on workforce sentiment, manager capability and local change risks
- Organisational Development Consultants — who support culture and change programmes across business units
- People Analytics Specialists — who analyse employee survey data and need to present actionable findings
- Transformation Programme Managers — who require leading indicators of adoption risk and stakeholder readiness
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand the basics of organisational change, including stakeholders, communications, adoption and the role of line managers. Experience using employee survey results, engagement dashboards or HR reporting is helpful, and participants should be comfortable working with spreadsheet-style data and simple charts. Familiarity with their organisation’s Microsoft 365 environment is useful, particularly Microsoft Teams and Power BI, but advanced analytics, coding and survey-statistics expertise are not required. Access to a Viva Glint tenant is not mandatory for attendance; instructor-led demonstrations and practice materials are provided. Participants should bring a laptop suitable for live online tools and workshop files.
Training methodology
This instructor-led five-day course is delivered in the classroom or live online through short expert-led sessions, Viva Glint walkthroughs and structured working labs. Participants configure a simulated change survey, review anonymised dashboards, diagnose response and favourability patterns, and use comments responsibly in facilitated analysis groups. Case work follows a transformation programme from readiness assessment through manager action planning and executive reporting. Each participant receives feedback on their survey logic, intervention choices and reporting narrative, then completes an end-of-course application plan for a live or anticipated organisational change.
