Course overview
Projects often lose momentum not because teams lack effort, but because work is scattered across spreadsheets, chat threads, email updates and disconnected project boards. Project managers need a reliable way to turn scope into assigned work, make dates and dependencies visible, capture requests consistently, and give stakeholders accurate status without repeatedly rebuilding reports. This course addresses the practical challenge of configuring monday.com so that teams can plan, execute and govern work from a shared operating view rather than chasing updates across multiple channels.
Participants build and manage monday.com workspaces, boards, groups, columns and views for real project delivery. They learn to translate work breakdown structures into usable boards; set owners, milestones, dependencies and timelines; configure status, formula and mirror columns; apply workload and Gantt views; and create dashboards that show progress, risks and capacity. The course also covers WorkForms, automations, permissions, templates, documentation practices and integrations with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Excel. By the end of the week, participants can design a board structure that supports both day-to-day team coordination and management reporting.
Delivery combines instructor demonstration with guided configuration labs based on a cross-functional project scenario. Participants progressively build a working monday.com project workspace, test notifications and automations, resolve data-quality issues, and present a dashboard to a simulated steering group. Each participant leaves with a configured project-planning board, a supporting intake form, automation rules, dashboard design and a documented rollout plan that can be adapted for their own team.
This intermediate course is suited to professionals who already understand the basics of project delivery and need to make monday.com a controlled, repeatable team workspace rather than a simple task list. It is particularly valuable where several teams contribute to shared milestones, leaders need reliable portfolio visibility, or project updates are currently manual and inconsistent.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Configure monday.com workspaces, boards, groups and column structures for a multi-team project
- Translate a work breakdown structure into sequenced tasks, milestones, owners and dependencies
- Build Timeline, Gantt, Kanban and Workload views for schedule and capacity management
- Create dashboard widgets that report delivery status, overdue work, risks and workload
- Design WorkForms that capture standardised project requests and route them into a board
- Automate status changes, owner notifications, due-date reminders and item creation using monday.com automations
- Apply board permissions, templates and documentation conventions to govern team collaboration
- Produce a monday.com implementation and adoption plan for a live project or department
Benefits of attending
For you
- Build credible, decision-ready project dashboards without manually consolidating weekly status updates
- Demonstrate the ability to configure monday.com around delivery workflows rather than using generic task lists
- Reduce time spent chasing task owners by applying automated reminders, status triggers and assignment rules
- Create a reusable board and template structure that can support future projects in the same role
- Strengthen readiness for project, PMO and operations roles that require collaborative work-management platform skills
For your organisation
- Establish more consistent project board structures, statuses and reporting definitions across teams
- Reduce manual status-chasing and spreadsheet consolidation through automations and live dashboards
- Improve visibility of overdue tasks, blocked dependencies and workload pressures before they affect milestones
- Create a standard intake route for project requests, change items or work submissions using WorkForms
- Lower adoption risk by giving staff a documented configuration and rollout plan for monday.com use
Target competencies
Who should attend
- Project Managers — who need a controlled workspace for plans, dependencies, updates and stakeholder reporting
- PMO Analysts — who standardise project boards and create portfolio dashboards across delivery teams
- Operations Managers — who coordinate recurring cross-functional work and need visible ownership and capacity data
- Team Leaders — who allocate work, monitor deadlines and remove delivery blockers for their teams
- Project Coordinators — who maintain project records, chase actions and prepare status information
- Business Analysts — who collect requirements and configure workflow structures that reflect operational processes
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand core project-management concepts including scope, tasks, milestones, deliverables, owners, due dates, dependencies and status reporting. They should be comfortable using a web-based business application, entering and filtering data in tables, and working with browser-based collaboration tools. Prior use of monday.com is helpful but not essential; participants who are new to the platform should complete basic navigation and account-access setup before the course. No coding, API development, database administration or advanced spreadsheet modelling is required. Participants should have access to a monday.com account or training environment with permission to create boards and automations.
Training methodology
The course is delivered through live instructor-led demonstrations, short configuration briefings and sustained hands-on work in monday.com. Participants use a realistic cross-functional project case to create boards, columns, views, forms, automations and dashboards in sequence. Facilitated group reviews compare alternative board designs, reporting measures and permission choices. The instructor uses troubleshooting clinics to address broken automations, incomplete dependencies and misleading dashboard data. On the final day, participants adapt the case design to their own workplace and complete an implementation plan covering governance, adoption and reporting.
