Course overview

Enterprise change programmes often report completion of communications and training but cannot show whether employees have adopted the new workflows in the application itself. Change leaders, product owners and transformation teams need evidence of where users abandon key tasks, which populations need support, whether in-app guidance changes behaviour, and when a rollout can safely progress to the next wave. Pendo provides this evidence when its data model, segments, guides and analytics are configured around defined change outcomes rather than surface-level usage counts.

This five-day course teaches participants to use Pendo as an operational change-adoption measurement platform for enterprise rollouts. Participants define measurable adoption hypotheses; translate business processes into tagged features and track events; create audience segments for regions, roles and rollout waves; analyse funnels, paths, retention and Product Areas; and build dashboards that connect Pendo findings to change decisions. They also design Guides, polls and NPS feedback loops, use the Prosci ADKAR model to interpret barriers, and establish practical data-governance rules for enterprise reporting.

Delivered in a classroom or live online environment, the course combines instructor demonstrations in Pendo with guided configuration labs, rollout case studies and peer review of adoption plans. Each participant works through a realistic enterprise deployment scenario and leaves with a Pendo Change Adoption Measurement Pack: an adoption scorecard, event and tagging specification, segment model, dashboard design, intervention plan and rollout decision cadence. Participants who complete the course receive a certificate of completion from Skillset Development.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define an enterprise adoption measurement framework linking change outcomes, user behaviours and Pendo metrics
  • Create a tagging and event-tracking specification for critical workflows, features and rollout milestones
  • Build Pendo segments for role, region, business unit, licence status and rollout-wave analysis
  • Analyse funnel, path and retention reports to identify workflow friction and adoption drop-off points
  • Configure Pendo Guides, polls and NPS surveys to test targeted change interventions
  • Construct executive and delivery-team dashboards using Product Areas, feature usage and behavioural metrics
  • Apply the Prosci ADKAR model to interpret Pendo evidence and select appropriate adoption actions
  • Produce a change-adoption measurement pack with governance rules, intervention triggers and reporting cadence

Benefits of attending

For you

  • Build credible evidence for change recommendations using observed product behaviour rather than attendance or survey data alone
  • Gain practical Pendo configuration experience that can be applied to enterprise SaaS, HR, CRM and internal-platform rollouts
  • Learn to diagnose adoption barriers through funnels, paths, retention and segmented user behaviour
  • Create a portfolio-ready Change Adoption Measurement Pack for use in transformation and digital-adoption roles
  • Strengthen conversations with product, data and programme leaders by linking adoption metrics to rollout decisions

For your organisation

  • Replace broad adoption assumptions with segmented evidence on who is using critical workflows and where support is needed
  • Reduce wasted communications and training spend by targeting Guides and interventions at demonstrated behaviour gaps
  • Improve rollout-governance decisions through defined adoption thresholds, risk indicators and escalation triggers
  • Establish more consistent Pendo tagging, event definitions and dashboard practices across implementation teams
  • Surface workflow friction early enough to correct configuration, training or process issues before wider deployment

Who should attend

  • Change Managers — who need behavioural evidence to target adoption interventions during enterprise rollouts
  • Digital Adoption Managers — who configure in-app support and must demonstrate its effect on user behaviour
  • Product Owners — who need to measure whether released workflows are used successfully across business populations
  • Transformation Programme Managers — who require adoption indicators for rollout gates, risk reviews and executive reporting
  • Business Analysts — who translate future-state processes into measurable application events and success criteria
  • People Analytics and HR Technology Leads — who support enterprise platform adoption across roles, regions and employee groups

Requirements and prerequisites

Participants should understand the business process and user groups involved in at least one software rollout, implementation or digital-change initiative. Familiarity with basic change-management concepts, such as stakeholder groups, communications, training and adoption measures, is assumed. Participants should also be comfortable working with spreadsheet data and interpreting simple percentages, trend charts and conversion rates. Prior hands-on Pendo administration is helpful but not required; guided labs introduce the relevant Pendo features. No coding, SQL, API development or advanced statistical training is required, although participants will benefit from access to a Pendo-enabled application after the course.

Training methodology

The instructor uses a realistic multi-wave enterprise application rollout to demonstrate each Pendo capability before participants configure and analyse it themselves. Short teaching sessions are followed by hands-on labs in segmentation, tagging specifications, funnel analysis, dashboard design and Guide planning. Teams compare findings from role- and region-based adoption scenarios, challenge weak metrics and recommend targeted interventions using ADKAR. The final day is an application-planning workshop in which participants assemble their own measurement pack, receive instructor feedback and define the first reporting cycle for their workplace.

Course outline

Day 1: Positioning Pendo for measurable change adoption

  • Enterprise rollout stages and adoption decision points
  • Leading, lagging and behavioural adoption indicators
  • Prosci ADKAR model mapped to observable product behaviours
  • Pendo data model: applications, visitors, accounts and metadata
  • Feature tagging principles for critical business workflows
  • Track Events versus tagged Features for adoption measurement
  • Data governance, privacy and metric ownership for enterprise reporting

Workshop: Participants create an adoption measurement charter for a fictional phased rollout, defining target behaviours, user populations, success thresholds and data owners.

Day 2: Segmenting users and diagnosing workflow adoption

  • Pendo visitor and account segmentation logic
  • Metadata design for role, region, business unit and rollout wave
  • Product Areas for grouping strategic workflows
  • Feature usage analysis and baseline establishment
  • Funnel reports for task completion and drop-off analysis
  • Path analysis for unexpected user journeys
  • Retention analysis for sustained post-rollout use

Workshop: Participants build segments and analyse a rollout dataset to produce a ranked list of adoption gaps by role, region and workflow.

Day 3: Designing targeted in-app change interventions

  • Guide types and activation rules in Pendo
  • Audience targeting with segment-based Guide delivery
  • Guide content design for awareness, knowledge and ability barriers
  • Polls for contextual qualitative feedback
  • Net Promoter Score surveys and follow-up segmentation
  • Guide engagement metrics and intervention evaluation
  • Experiment design for comparing support approaches

Workshop: Participants design a targeted Guide and feedback sequence for a failing workflow, including trigger criteria, copy, success measure and follow-up action.

Day 4: Building adoption dashboards for rollout governance

  • Dashboard design for executives, change leads and product teams
  • Pendo report selection for adoption scorecards
  • Cohort comparisons across rollout waves
  • Thresholds, exception flags and escalation triggers
  • Combining Pendo findings with training and communications data
  • Exporting and visualising Pendo data in Microsoft Power BI
  • Narrative reporting that distinguishes correlation from causation

Workshop: Participants create an adoption scorecard and present a rollout-governance recommendation based on segmented Pendo evidence.

Day 5: Operationalising Pendo in the change-management cycle

  • Pendo operating model roles and responsibilities
  • Tagging request and quality-assurance workflow
  • Jira integration points for product and adoption issues

Frequently asked questions

No prior Pendo administration experience is required, although familiarity with a software rollout or digital-change project is expected. The course starts with Pendo's data model and progresses to practical use of analytics, segments, Guides and dashboards.

A laptop is required for the hands-on labs. Training access or a structured practice environment is used during the course; access to your own Pendo-enabled application is useful for post-course application but is not required to participate.

The course is designed for professionals responsible for adoption of enterprise applications, particularly change managers, digital adoption managers, product owners and transformation leads. It is most valuable where rollout decisions need to be supported by user-behaviour data.

General product analytics training often focuses on product discovery, feature optimisation and customer engagement. This course applies Pendo specifically to organisational change: rollout waves, role-based adoption, in-app interventions, ADKAR barriers and governance decisions.

You can use the measurement pack to establish adoption baselines, define event and tagging requirements, target Guides and report rollout risks. The methods apply to internal employee platforms as well as enterprise SaaS implementations where Pendo data is available.

You will leave with a Change Adoption Measurement Pack containing an adoption scorecard, event and tagging specification, segment design, dashboard outline, intervention plan and reporting cadence. It is structured so that it can be adapted to a live rollout with your product, data and change teams.
