This course addresses the practical work of planning, building and controlling procurement schedules that give project managers, suppliers and internal approvers a single, usable timeline.
Participants learn to break procurement packages into measurable activities, define logical dependencies, estimate durations from market and supplier data, and establish realistic milestones from request for quotation through delivery, inspection and closeout. The course covers procurement work breakdown structures, critical-path analysis, lead-time modelling, schedule-risk analysis, expediting triggers, earned-value-style progress measures and recovery planning. Participants use Microsoft Project, Oracle Primavera P6 concepts, Excel analysis and SAP Ariba workflow data to connect sourcing and contracting activity to project delivery dates.
Instruction combines worked examples, schedule-building workshops and a five-day procurement case involving long-lead equipment and multiple approval gates. Participants create a procurement schedule baseline, dependency register, procurement milestone dashboard and schedule recovery plan for the case project. They leave with reusable templates and an application plan for improving the procurement scheduling process on an active project or portfolio.

This is not a beginner introduction to procurement policy or strategic sourcing.
Training methodology
The instructor leads short technical sessions followed by schedule-building exercises based on a capital-project procurement case. Participants convert package information into activities and dependencies, reverse-schedule required-on-site dates, calculate float, assess supplier lead-time uncertainty and prepare recovery actions. Small groups review competing sourcing and logistics scenarios, then defend their forecast at a simulated project schedule review.
