Course overview
Business continuity teams need more than a collection of recovery documents. They must maintain accurate business impact analyses, connect critical processes to dependencies and recovery strategies, route plan reviews to accountable owners, and demonstrate readiness during an incident or audit. This course addresses the practical challenge of using Riskonnect Business Continuity to turn dispersed continuity data into controlled, actionable plans. Participants learn how to configure and manage the records that support resilient operations across sites, business units, suppliers, technology services and critical roles.
The course covers the Riskonnect Business Continuity workspace from programme structure through plan maintenance and reporting. Participants build business impact analysis questionnaires, capture recovery time objectives and maximum tolerable downtime, document process dependencies, assign recovery actions, and manage plan approvals. They also work with incident-related information, exercise records, corrective actions and dashboard reporting. By the end of the week, participants can administer a continuity planning workflow that gives plan owners clear tasks and gives management a defensible view of preparedness.
Instruction combines guided system demonstrations with hands-on configuration labs using realistic continuity scenarios, including a hospital service disruption and a multi-site operational outage. Participants complete a structured capstone in which they configure a business continuity programme area, create a BIA and plan template, enter recovery data, assign tasks and produce a management report. They leave with a reusable Riskonnect configuration workbook, sample plan content, reporting specifications and an individual implementation action plan. A certificate of completion is awarded to participants who complete the five-day instructor-led course.
This intermediate course is designed for continuity practitioners and system owners who already understand the purpose of business continuity planning and now need to operate, improve or govern the process through Riskonnect.

Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand the purpose of business continuity management and be familiar with core terms such as business impact analysis, recovery time objective, recovery point objective, recovery strategy, exercise and corrective action. Experience contributing to a continuity plan, BIA or crisis-management process is strongly recommended. Participants should also be comfortable using web-based business applications, entering structured data and working with spreadsheets. Access to a Riskonnect training environment is provided during the course. Prior Riskonnect configuration experience, software development knowledge, database administration and coding are not required.
Training methodology
The course is delivered through instructor-led walkthroughs of Riskonnect Business Continuity, followed by individual configuration labs in a training environment. Participants work from a realistic operational disruption scenario to build BIAs, plan sections, dependencies, review tasks and management reports. Small-group workshops test design decisions such as ownership models, recovery classifications and approval routes. Each day closes with a practical output that feeds the final capstone. On day five, participants complete an application-planning session that maps their configuration approach to their own continuity programme.
