Course overview
Finance teams using Sage Intacct often have reliable transaction data but struggle to turn it into timely, controlled management information. Month-end reporting may depend on exported spreadsheets, inconsistent dimensions, manually maintained allocations, or reports that do not reconcile cleanly to the general ledger. This course helps finance professionals configure and use Sage Intacct financial management and reporting capabilities so that department leaders, controllers, and executives receive accurate financial insight without creating parallel reporting processes.
Participants work through the financial data model behind Sage Intacct, including entities, locations, departments, projects, customers, vendors, accounts, and user-defined dimensions. They learn to manage the general ledger, configure account groups, apply statistical accounts, process allocations, use multi-entity and inter-entity accounting features, and build report structures that support the chart of accounts. Reporting work covers financial report writer functions, custom reports, interactive visualizations, dashboards, budget-versus-actual analysis, drill-down investigation, and controlled report distribution.
Instructor-led demonstrations are followed by guided exercises in a Sage Intacct training environment and practical finance cases. Participants build a reporting pack for a multi-entity organisation, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, departmental variance analysis, and a management dashboard. They leave with a documented report-design workbook, a month-end reporting workflow, and a prioritised action plan for improving reporting and control in their own Sage Intacct environment.
The course is designed for finance professionals who already understand core accounting processes and need to become more effective users, report builders, or administrators of Sage Intacct. It is particularly relevant where an organisation is standardising management reporting, expanding across entities or departments, replacing spreadsheet-led consolidations, or improving the auditability of finance data.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Configure Sage Intacct dimensions, account groups, and statistical accounts to support management reporting requirements
- Build general ledger report structures that reconcile operational views to the trial balance
- Create allocation rules and allocation journals using financial and statistical drivers
- Process and review multi-entity and inter-entity transactions with appropriate balancing controls
- Design financial reports in Sage Intacct Financial Report Writer using rows, columns, filters, and calculations
- Construct departmental budget-versus-actual and variance reports with drill-down analysis
- Develop executive dashboards and interactive visualizations for recurring management review
- Produce a documented month-end reporting pack and report-governance workflow for a finance team
Benefits of attending
For you

Target competencies
Who should attend
- Financial Controllers — who need controlled close, consolidation, and management reporting processes
- Finance Managers — who oversee budgets, departmental performance, and monthly reporting delivery
- Management Accountants — who prepare variance analysis, cost allocations, and decision-support reports
- Sage Intacct Administrators — who configure dimensions, user access, report distribution, and finance workflows
- Senior Accountants — who maintain general ledger integrity and investigate reporting exceptions
- Finance Systems Analysts — who translate reporting requirements into Sage Intacct configurations and dashboards
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand double-entry accounting, the general ledger, trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, budgeting, and basic variance analysis. Prior exposure to Sage Intacct navigation, such as locating transactions and running standard reports, is strongly recommended; participants will benefit most if they have access to an Intacct environment in their role. Confidence using Microsoft Excel for reviewing and comparing financial data is assumed. Prior system-administration experience, SQL knowledge, Power BI development, or programming is not required. This is not a basic bookkeeping or introductory accounting course.
Training methodology
The course combines instructor-led explanation of Sage Intacct finance configuration with guided work in a training environment. Each day uses a connected multi-entity case: participants configure reporting dimensions, review ledger activity, create allocation logic, build reports, and present management information. Short demonstrations are followed by individual system exercises, peer review of report designs, and facilitated troubleshooting of reconciliation issues. On the final day, participants assemble a reporting pack and complete an application plan identifying the reports, controls, owners, and implementation priorities relevant to their workplace.
