Course overview

Supply chain teams often manage planning, sourcing, production, logistics and returns through separate KPIs, hand-offs and improvement projects. This makes it difficult to pinpoint why service failures, excess inventory, long lead times or avoidable operating costs persist across the end-to-end network. The SCOR Model Supply Chain Operations Design Training Course gives participants a common operating language and a disciplined framework for connecting customer requirements, process performance, capability gaps and improvement priorities.

Participants learn to use the SCOR Digital Standard to map supply chain processes across Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return and Enable. They define process boundaries, identify Level 1 performance attributes, select Level 2 and Level 3 metrics, and build a balanced scorecard covering reliability, responsiveness, agility, cost and asset management efficiency. The course also addresses SCOR practices, people skills, maturity assessment, benchmark interpretation and the translation of process findings into targeted redesign initiatives.

Teaching combines instructor-led model walkthroughs with a running supply chain case involving demand volatility, supplier disruption, capacity constraints and fulfilment failures. Teams construct a SCOR-based process architecture, diagnose performance gaps using metric trees, and prioritise improvement initiatives against business impact and implementation effort. Each participant leaves with a practical SCOR operations design pack: a process map, KPI hierarchy, gap assessment, improvement backlog and 90-day application plan. A certificate of completion is awarded after the five-day programme.

Requirements and prerequisites

Participants should have at least two years of exposure to supply chain, operations, procurement, manufacturing, logistics or demand planning work. They should understand basic concepts such as lead time, inventory, service level, forecast, capacity, supplier performance and process flow. Experience reading operational KPIs or working with ERP reports is useful, and confidence using Excel for simple calculations will help during workshops. Prior SCOR certification, advanced statistics, process-modelling software, SAP configuration knowledge or Power BI development skills are not required. The course explains SCOR terminology before applying it to cases.

Training methodology

The programme uses short instructor-led SCOR Digital Standard briefings followed by applied workshops using a single multi-site supply chain case. Participants map Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return and Enable processes, construct metric trees in Excel, interpret performance data, and compare current-state practices with target capabilities. Small groups defend their redesign choices in review sessions modelled on an operations steering meeting. On Day 5, each participant converts the case methods into an application plan for a live business area, with peer and instructor feedback on scope, measures, stakeholders and first actions.

Day 1: SCOR framework and supply chain process architecture

Workshop: Teams create a Level 1 and Level 2 SCOR process map for a consumer-products supply chain and identify ownership at each cross-functional hand-off.

Day 2: Performance attributes, metrics and diagnostic scorecards

No. The course introduces SCOR terminology, process levels and performance attributes before participants apply them. Prior supply chain or operations experience is more important than previous SCOR study.
