Course overview
Search teams are often expected to increase qualified organic traffic while working with incomplete keyword data, fragmented technical issues and content calendars that are not tied to search demand. Semrush can bring these decisions into one workspace, but value depends on knowing which reports to trust, how to interpret competitor signals and how to turn findings into prioritised actions. This course helps marketers move from exporting dashboards to building an evidence-based SEO and content marketing operating plan.
Participants use Semrush to analyse organic competitors, identify keyword gaps, assess search intent, cluster keyword opportunities and evaluate content performance. They learn to configure Projects, Position Tracking, Site Audit and On Page SEO Checker; diagnose crawlability, indexability and on-page issues; build content briefs with Keyword Magic Tool and Topic Research; and use Backlink Analytics and Backlink Gap to support off-page planning. The course also connects Semrush findings with Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 so that rankings, visibility, traffic and conversions can be assessed together.
Instructor-led demonstrations are followed by guided analysis of a working website or realistic case-study domain. Participants practise selecting target keywords, assigning technical fixes, improving priority pages and reporting on the metrics that matter to commercial stakeholders. Each participant leaves with a Semrush-based SEO and content action plan containing a keyword opportunity set, competitor comparison, technical issue backlog, content brief and 90-day measurement framework that can be adapted for their own organisation.
The course is designed for marketing professionals who already understand the basics of websites, search and content publishing and now need a repeatable way to use Semrush for planning, execution and reporting.

- Content Marketing Managers — who need search-led editorial plans and stronger briefs for writers
- Digital Marketing Managers — who oversee organic growth targets, agency activity and channel reporting
- Marketing Analysts — who need to connect ranking and competitor data with traffic and conversion evidence
- E-commerce Managers — who must improve category, product and buying-guide visibility for commercial search terms
- Web Managers — who coordinate SEO fixes with developers and need defensible technical priorities
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should be comfortable using a web browser, spreadsheets and marketing reports, and should understand basic concepts such as keywords, search results, website pages, organic traffic and conversions. Experience with a CMS, Google Search Console or Google Analytics is useful but not essential. The course assumes participants can interpret simple metrics such as sessions, impressions, clicks and conversion rate. A laptop is required for practical work, ideally with access to a Semrush account or trial and, where permitted, a website property. No coding, SQL, specialist data science or previous Semrush certification is required.
Training methodology
The programme combines short instructor-led Semrush demonstrations with individual and small-group analysis of a selected website or case-study domain. Participants work directly in Projects, Organic Research, Keyword Gap, Site Audit, Topic Research and backlink reports, recording findings in practical templates. Case discussions test how to defend priorities when technical debt, editorial capacity and commercial targets conflict. Daily review sessions convert report outputs into decisions, and the final workshop assembles each participant’s keyword, technical, content and measurement work into a 90-day SEO action plan for workplace application.
