Course overview

Enterprise software rollouts often fail after launch because employees cannot complete new processes in the flow of work. Change leaders need more than communications plans: they need evidence of where users abandon tasks, a structured way to segment impacted audiences, and in-application guidance that reduces support demand. This course addresses the practical challenge of planning, building and governing WalkMe-driven adoption for systems such as Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow and internally developed applications.

Participants learn to connect established change-management practice with WalkMe capabilities. They use stakeholder and impact assessments, the Prosci ADKAR Model, journey mapping and adoption measures to identify priority moments of need. They then translate those findings into WalkMe solution designs using Smart Walk-Thrus, SmartTips, ShoutOuts, Launchers, Resources and Surveys. The course also covers content governance, accessibility, testing, analytics interpretation, release planning and the handover required to operate a sustainable digital adoption programme.

Teaching combines instructor-led demonstrations, guided WalkMe configuration exercises, change-planning workshops and a realistic enterprise implementation case. Participants work from a defined business problem through audience analysis, solution design, build decisions, measurement and governance. They leave with a documented WalkMe Digital Adoption Change Plan: an impact assessment, stakeholder map, ADKAR interventions, prioritized guidance inventory, measurement dashboard specification, release plan and governance model that can be adapted for a live programme.

The course suits change professionals, product owners, transformation leads and WalkMe practitioners who must turn software adoption goals into measurable employee behaviour. It is equally valuable to managers approving a WalkMe investment who need their teams to build focused, governed experiences rather than a growing collection of unmeasured on-screen prompts.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Assess user, process and role impacts using a structured change-impact assessment for a software rollout
  • Map stakeholder influence and readiness using a stakeholder matrix and engagement plan
  • Apply the Prosci ADKAR Model to define adoption interventions for affected user groups
  • Design role-based WalkMe experiences using Smart Walk-Thrus, SmartTips, ShoutOuts and Launchers
  • Prioritize digital adoption use cases with an effort-versus-impact scoring matrix
  • Configure a measurement plan using WalkMe Insights metrics, success criteria and baseline measures
  • Test and release WalkMe content through a documented quality-assurance and change-control workflow
  • Produce a governed Digital Adoption Change Plan for an enterprise application implementation

Benefits of attending

For you

  • Build credible WalkMe solution proposals that link guidance content to defined adoption risks and business outcomes
  • Create a portfolio-ready Digital Adoption Change Plan rather than only completing isolated WalkMe builds

  • Strengthen readiness for roles that combine organisational change, enterprise systems and digital employee experience
  • Use WalkMe analytics and ADKAR evidence to explain adoption progress to programme sponsors and product leaders

For your organisation

  • Focus WalkMe investment on high-risk workflows, affected roles and measurable business-process outcomes
  • Reduce avoidable support demand by designing contextual guidance for frequent user errors and abandonment points
  • Improve release readiness through defined ownership, testing, approval and rollback controls for WalkMe content
  • Create consistent adoption reporting using agreed baselines, success measures and WalkMe Insights indicators
  • Retain a reusable governance model for scaling digital adoption across multiple applications and change initiatives

Who should attend

  • Change Managers — who must convert adoption strategy into practical, role-based employee support
  • WalkMe Builders and Digital Adoption Specialists — who need to design guidance around validated change impacts and outcomes
  • Transformation Programme Managers — who need measurable adoption controls across enterprise technology releases
  • Product Owners — who must improve completion of critical workflows after a platform or product launch
  • Learning and Development Managers — who need to combine formal learning with in-application performance support
  • IT Service and Application Support Managers — who need to reduce avoidable tickets through targeted digital guidance

Requirements and prerequisites

This is a foundation-to-intermediate course. Participants should understand the business process or enterprise application they want to support and be comfortable navigating web-based software, spreadsheets and basic project documentation. Familiarity with change-management terms such as stakeholders, communications, training and resistance is helpful, but no formal change qualification is required. Previous WalkMe building experience is not required; complete beginners should expect guided practice with core WalkMe components before progressing to design and governance decisions. Participants do not need coding, JavaScript or data-analysis expertise. Access to a WalkMe training environment is provided or arranged for hands-on activities.

Training methodology

The course uses short instructor-led briefings followed by guided configuration and decision-making exercises in a WalkMe training environment. Participants analyse an enterprise rollout case, map impacted roles, select the right WalkMe experience for each moment of need and review example analytics. Small-group workshops simulate conversations between change, product, support and technical teams, including competing priorities and governance constraints. Each day adds a section to an individual Digital Adoption Change Plan, which participants refine in the final application-planning session with instructor feedback.

Course outline

Day 1: Digital adoption and change foundations

  • Digital adoption risks in enterprise application rollouts
  • WalkMe platform architecture and implementation terminology

Frequently asked questions

No. The course begins with WalkMe concepts and guided practice using core components before moving into solution design, analytics and governance. Participants with existing builder experience will use the same exercises to improve their change-management and operating-model decisions.

A laptop suitable for browser-based work is required for live online delivery and strongly recommended for classroom delivery. A WalkMe training environment is used for practical exercises; participants do not need to purchase or bring their own production licence.

It is designed for people responsible for employee adoption of enterprise software, including change managers, WalkMe builders, product owners and transformation leads. It is particularly relevant when an organisation needs to connect WalkMe content to a formal change and measurement plan.

Builder courses concentrate primarily on configuring individual WalkMe components. This course teaches how to decide what should be built, for whom, when it should be released, how success will be measured and how content will be governed after launch.

The methods can be applied to any browser-based enterprise application where users need help completing changed tasks. Participants use an implementation case during the course and develop a reusable plan structure for their own Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow or internal-system rollout.

You leave with a Digital Adoption Change Plan containing a change-impact assessment, stakeholder map, intervention design, WalkMe content inventory, measurement specification, release controls and governance model. It is structured as a working programme deliverable, not a generic training worksheet.
