Course overview
Employee listening only creates value when leaders can distinguish a meaningful signal from routine survey variation, discuss findings without defensiveness, and turn feedback into visible action. Workday Peakon Employee Voice gives leaders access to engagement scores, driver insights, comments, benchmarks and action-planning prompts, but dashboards alone do not improve retention, trust or team performance. This course equips leaders to interpret employee feedback responsibly, identify the conditions behind low or changing scores, and lead credible follow-through while protecting employee confidentiality.
Participants work through the Workday Peakon Employee Voice reporting environment, including engagement results, driver analysis, demographic cuts, response-rate indicators, comment themes, confidentiality thresholds and action-planning workflows. They learn to prepare for a results conversation, validate findings with their team, prioritise one or two high-leverage issues, define owner-led actions, and measure whether those actions are working. The course also addresses difficult situations: low participation, negative comments, conflicting demographic results, manager resistance and escalation of risks such as workload, inclusion or psychological safety concerns.
Delivery combines instructor-led demonstrations, guided dashboard interpretation, realistic leadership cases, peer challenge sessions and facilitated action-planning workshops. Participants use a structured Employee Listening Action Plan to analyse a simulated Peakon results set, frame a team conversation, select interventions and establish measures, owners and review dates. They leave with a completed plan, a results-conversation agenda, a comment-handling protocol and a 90-day listening cadence ready for adaptation in their own team or business unit.
The course is designed for people leaders and HR partners who already have responsibility for acting on employee feedback, rather than for administrators configuring the Workday platform.
Course objectives

- Analyse driver results and comment themes to distinguish probable root causes from surface-level symptoms
- Apply confidentiality thresholds and aggregation principles when reviewing demographic and team-level feedback
- Facilitate a structured team results conversation that validates findings without exposing individual respondents
- Prioritise employee-feedback issues using an impact-versus-controllability decision matrix
- Create a 90-day Workday Peakon action plan with named owners, milestones, success measures and review points
- Respond to critical employee comments using an acknowledgement, triage and escalation protocol
- Evaluate action effectiveness through pulse trends, follow-up questions and documented team commitments

Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should have experience leading a team, advising leaders, or supporting employee engagement activity, and should understand basic concepts such as engagement, response rate, survey confidentiality and action planning. Familiarity with their organisation’s Workday Peakon Employee Voice programme is helpful, particularly its survey cadence and access roles, but prior system-administration experience is not required. Participants should be comfortable reading charts and percentages and discussing sensitive people issues professionally. No statistical qualification, coding knowledge, survey-design expertise or Workday configuration experience is required; the course focuses on leader interpretation and action rather than platform implementation.
Training methodology
The course uses short instructor-led briefings to establish the employee-listening method, followed by guided work in a Workday Peakon Employee Voice demonstration environment and realistic anonymised results packs. Participants interpret dashboards, compare demographic patterns, code comment themes and practise results conversations through facilitated role plays. Small groups challenge each other’s assumptions, prioritisation choices and proposed actions. Each day adds to an individual Employee Listening Action Plan, culminating in a 90-day implementation plan that participants test against a manager-review panel and adapt to their workplace context.
