Course overview
Performance review administration fails when review cycles are configured without clear eligibility rules, manager workflows, question design, calibration controls, or reporting plans. The result is late submissions, inconsistent ratings, poor employee experience, and talent decisions that cannot be explained. This course prepares HR and People Operations professionals to run defensible, well-governed performance review cycles in Culture Amp, from initial configuration through close-out reporting.
Participants learn to translate an organisation’s performance philosophy into Culture Amp cycle settings, review templates, rating scales, reviewer relationships, deadlines, reminders, calibration processes, and role-based communications. They practise configuring review forms, controlling participation populations, managing peer feedback and self-reflections, troubleshooting workflow exceptions, monitoring completion, and interpreting review results. The course also covers data-quality checks, privacy-aware administration, audit-ready documentation, and the use of Excel and Power BI to analyse cycle outcomes.
Delivery combines instructor demonstrations in Culture Amp with guided configuration labs, scenario-based troubleshooting, review-form critiques, and calibration simulations. Participants work from a realistic organisational case and build a complete Performance Review Administration Playbook: a configured-cycle specification, process map, communications schedule, exception log, reporting plan, and post-cycle improvement checklist. This gives attendees a practical artefact they can adapt for their next live review cycle.
The course is designed for experienced HR practitioners, People Operations teams, HRIS specialists, and talent professionals who already support performance management and now need to administer Culture Amp with greater control, consistency, and analytical confidence.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Configure a Culture Amp performance review cycle using defined populations, dates, reviewer relationships, and workflow stages
- Build review templates with role-relevant questions, rating scales, comment guidance, and self-reflection prompts
- Set eligibility and participation rules using employee data fields, inclusion criteria, and exception-handling procedures
- Administer peer feedback, manager reviews, upward feedback, and self-assessments through controlled reviewer assignments
- Run a calibration workflow using rating distributions, discussion rules, decision records, and escalation routes
- Monitor review-cycle progress through Culture Amp completion data, reminder plans, and intervention dashboards
- Validate performance review data through pre-launch testing, privacy checks, and post-cycle quality-control reconciliations
- Produce a Performance Review Administration Playbook containing configuration decisions, communications, reports, and governance controls
Benefits of attending
For you
- Gain practical credibility as the person who can configure and govern Culture Amp review cycles rather than only coordinate them
- Build a reusable administration playbook that can be presented to HR leadership, HRIS teams, and business stakeholders
- Improve confidence in advising managers on review workflows, rating consistency, calibration, and deadline recovery
- Develop evidence-based reporting skills for identifying completion risks, rating patterns, and process weaknesses
- Position yourself for broader People Operations, HRIS, talent systems, or performance management responsibilities
For your organisation
- Reduce late, incomplete, and misrouted reviews through clearer configuration, ownership rules, reminders, and exception management
- Create more consistent performance decisions by standardising templates, rating scales, calibration practices, and decision records
- Lower employee-relations and privacy risk through controlled access, tested workflows, data checks, and documented governance
- Give leaders timely cycle-status and outcome reporting to target interventions before review deadlines are missed
- Establish a repeatable Culture Amp operating model that reduces dependence on ad hoc spreadsheets and individual administrator knowledge
Target competencies
Who should attend
- People Operations Managers — who own the operational delivery and employee experience of performance review cycles
- HRIS Managers and HR Systems Analysts — who configure Culture Amp, manage employee data, and resolve system workflow issues
- Talent Management Managers — who need review processes that support performance, succession, and development decisions
- HR Business Partners — who advise business leaders on review design, calibration, and manager accountability
- Learning and Development Managers — who use performance review outputs to identify capability and development priorities
- HR Operations Specialists — who coordinate deadlines, communications, data checks, and employee support during review cycles
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand the basic purpose of performance management, including goals, manager assessments, employee self-reflections, rating scales, feedback, and calibration. Practical experience supporting at least one performance review cycle is strongly recommended. Attendees should have access to a Culture Amp sandbox, training environment, or administrator-supported demonstration account where possible, and should be comfortable working with spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel. Prior Culture Amp configuration experience is helpful but not essential. No programming, API integration, statistical modelling, or Power BI expertise is required; reporting concepts are taught from an administrator’s perspective.
Training methodology
The course uses live instructor-led walkthroughs of Culture Amp performance features, followed by guided configuration in a realistic review-cycle scenario. Participants build forms, populations, reviewer workflows, reminders, and reports rather than only observing demonstrations. Small-group workshops examine problematic rating scales, missed deadlines, access errors, and calibration disputes. Each day closes with a practical output that is added to an individual administration playbook. On the final day, participants test their end-to-end design against a launch checklist and create a workplace implementation plan.
