Course overview
Performance review cycles often fail for operational rather than policy reasons: unclear review templates, inconsistent goal visibility, late manager actions, incomplete calibration evidence, and no reliable way to track completion. HR and people teams using Lattice need to configure a cycle that is easy for employees to complete, gives managers decision-ready evidence, and produces reporting leaders can trust. This course focuses on running that process from cycle design through close-out in Lattice.
Participants learn to translate a performance-management policy into a configured Lattice review cycle. They create review questions and competency rating scales, set review populations and timelines, assign peer and upward-feedback relationships, connect goals to review conversations, manage nominations, monitor task completion, and prepare calibration-ready data. The course also covers manager communications, reminder workflows, reporting dashboards, cycle troubleshooting, permissions, and practical controls for protecting sensitive performance information.
Through guided Lattice demonstrations, configuration labs, and a realistic annual-review case, participants build a complete review-cycle operating pack. The final deliverable includes a configured cycle blueprint, question set, participant and reviewer map, communications schedule, progress-report design, calibration checklist, and post-cycle improvement plan. This gives participants material they can adapt directly for a quarterly, biannual, or annual cycle in their own organisation.
The course suits HR professionals, people operations teams, HRIS administrators, and HR business partners who own or support performance reviews. It is equally valuable for internal Lattice administrators who need to move beyond basic platform navigation and establish a repeatable, auditable review-cycle process.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Configure a Lattice performance review cycle with review periods, participant populations, deadlines, and task ownership
- Build review templates using competency questions, rating scales, written prompts, and role-relevant guidance
- Map self, manager, peer, upward, and external reviewer relationships using Lattice reviewer-assignment methods
- Create a manager communications and reminder plan that drives on-time review completion
- Monitor cycle progress through Lattice completion data, overdue-task reports, and participation exception lists
- Prepare calibration-ready performance data using rating distributions, evidence prompts, and manager review checklists
- Apply Lattice permissions and data-handling controls to protect confidential review content and reporting access
- Produce a review-cycle operating pack containing configuration decisions, communications, reports, and improvement actions
Benefits of attending
For you
- Gain practical credibility as a Lattice review-cycle administrator who can configure and govern a live process
- Learn to diagnose late, incomplete, or inconsistent reviews using platform data rather than informal follow-up
- Build a reusable review-template and communications portfolio for HRIS, people operations, or talent-management roles
- Strengthen the ability to brief managers on ratings evidence, feedback quality, and calibration expectations
- Leave with a documented operating model that demonstrates readiness to lead future Lattice review cycles
For your organisation
- Improves on-time review completion through defined ownership, reminders, escalation routes, and progress reporting
- Creates more consistent performance evidence by standardising questions, competency criteria, and rating guidance
- Reduces administrative rework by establishing repeatable Lattice configurations, reviewer rules, and cycle checklists
- Gives HR leaders clearer visibility of participation, overdue actions, and rating patterns before calibration meetings
- Strengthens confidentiality and auditability through deliberate permissions, access controls, and documented cycle decisions
Target competencies
Who should attend
- HRIS Administrators — who configure Lattice workflows, permissions, populations, and review-cycle settings
- People Operations Managers — who coordinate review logistics and need reliable completion tracking across the organisation
- HR Business Partners — who advise managers on review quality, ratings consistency, and calibration preparation
- Talent Management Specialists — who design performance-management processes and connect reviews to development decisions
- Learning and Development Managers — who use review evidence to identify capability gaps and manager-development needs
- People Analytics Specialists — who report on review participation, rating patterns, and process effectiveness
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand the purpose of performance reviews, goals, competencies, and manager feedback conversations. Familiarity with their organisation’s review policy, rating scale, employee population structure, and annual HR calendar is useful. Basic confidence working in web-based HR systems and spreadsheets is assumed, as participants will interpret completion data and draft cycle controls. Existing Lattice experience is helpful but not essential; complete beginners can attend and should expect an introduction to core navigation before configuration work begins. No programming, API knowledge, statistical modelling, or prior HRIS implementation experience is required.
Training methodology
The course combines instructor-led explanation with guided work in Lattice-style review-cycle scenarios. Participants configure settings, draft templates, assign reviewer relationships, analyse completion reports, and resolve common process exceptions in small groups. Case material follows a fictional organisation preparing an annual cycle across multiple departments, giving participants practice with realistic deadlines, manager capacity issues, and calibration needs. Each day ends with an applied workshop, and the final session converts course outputs into a review-cycle implementation plan for the participant’s own organisation.
