Course overview
Safety teams often have incident records, audit findings, inspections, legal obligations and corrective actions distributed across sites, spreadsheets and disconnected workflows. Enablon can bring these activities into a controlled system, but value depends on how consistently users configure records, assign accountability, set due dates, manage evidence and interpret status data. This course addresses the practical challenge of using Enablon to maintain reliable safety compliance records and to prevent corrective actions from becoming overdue, unverified or invisible to management.
Participants work through the Enablon safety compliance and action-management process from requirement capture to closure verification. They learn to create and classify safety obligations, plan assessments and inspections, log findings, initiate action plans, define owners and approvers, attach supporting evidence, escalate overdue actions and produce status reports. The course also examines relationships between incidents, audits, inspections, risk controls and corrective actions, helping participants create traceable records that support ISO 45001-aligned assurance and internal governance.
Delivery combines instructor-led demonstrations with guided Enablon practice, realistic multi-site safety scenarios and team-based review of action backlogs. Participants configure and process a sample set of compliance findings and corrective actions, then build an action-management operating plan for their own workplace. They leave with a completed action workflow map, action-quality checklist, escalation rules and reporting specification that can be adapted for their Enablon environment.
The course is designed for experienced HSE practitioners, compliance coordinators, system administrators and operational managers who already work with safety records or will be responsible for driving adoption of Enablon safety and action-management processes.

Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should understand the basic occupational health and safety concepts used in their organisation, including hazards, controls, incident follow-up, inspections, audits and corrective actions. Familiarity with ISO 45001 terminology and with their organisation’s action-closeout process is helpful. Learners should also be comfortable using a browser-based business application, entering records, attaching files and working with simple reports. Prior Enablon experience is recommended but not essential; the course explains the relevant navigation and workflow concepts. No programming, database administration, API development or advanced analytics experience is required.
Training methodology
The five-day programme uses live Enablon demonstrations followed by guided practice in a training environment. Participants work with a realistic scenario involving inspections, audit findings, incident follow-up and overdue site actions. Instructor-led sessions explain the governance decisions behind fields, workflows and reports; workshops require learners to configure records, review evidence and make closure decisions. Small groups compare action-prioritisation choices and dashboard interpretations. On the final day, each participant converts course outputs into a practical implementation plan for their own safety process.

Day 1: Enablon safety compliance foundations
- Enablon navigation, roles, permissions and record lifecycle concepts
- Safety compliance process mapping from obligation to verified closure
- ISO 45001 corrective-action and continual-improvement requirements
- Relationships between incidents, inspections, audits, risks and actions
- Safety finding taxonomy for sites, business units and activity types
- Data-quality rules for action titles, descriptions and classifications
- Action-management governance roles and RACI responsibilities
Workshop: Participants map their current safety finding-to-closure process and produce a gap analysis against a controlled Enablon workflow.
Day 2: Findings, obligations and action creation
- Creating findings from inspection, audit and incident follow-up records
- Capturing legal and internal compliance obligations in action context
- Action-plan creation and linked record relationships
- Assigning action owners, contributors, approvers and observers
- Setting due dates, milestones, reminders and completion expectations
- Classifying actions by hazard, control, legal exposure and root cause
- Attaching photographs, documents and supporting evidence
Workshop: Participants enter a set of multi-site inspection findings and produce linked, fully assigned corrective-action records.
Day 3: Prioritisation and workflow control
- Risk-based action prioritisation using severity and likelihood
- Legal exposure and operational-criticality scoring methods
- Configuring action statuses, workflow stages and approval gates
- Escalation rules for overdue and high-risk actions
- Managing extensions, reassignment and disputed completion claims
- Corrective versus preventive action decision criteria
- Root-cause links using 5 Whys and causal-factor analysis
Workshop: Participants triage an overdue action backlog and produce a prioritised escalation register with ownership decisions.
Day 4: Verification, assurance and reporting
- Closure evidence standards for engineering, procedural and behavioural controls

Day 5: Implementation and operational adoption
