Course overview
Google Meet meetings often fail for reasons that have little to do with the platform itself: unclear agendas, poorly configured access, weak facilitation, unanswered chat questions, unstructured decisions, and no accountable follow-up. Professionals need to communicate with authority when participants are remote, distracted, joining from different locations, or reluctant to contribute. This course addresses the practical communication behaviours and Google Meet controls required to run meetings that start with purpose, maintain attention, produce decisions, and leave a reliable record of actions.
Participants learn how to plan a Google Meet session through Google Calendar, set appropriate access and host controls, and structure conversations for briefings, team meetings, client reviews, workshops, and decision sessions. They practise agenda design, concise verbal delivery, screen-sharing, chat moderation, captions, polls, breakout rooms, collaborative whiteboarding, and meeting-note techniques. The course also covers inclusive participation, handling interruptions, managing difficult virtual conversations, checking understanding, and closing meetings with named owners, deadlines, and escalation paths.
Delivery combines instructor-led demonstrations with repeated live simulations in Google Meet. Participants take turns acting as meeting host, presenter, note-taker, and participant while receiving structured feedback on clarity, facilitation, technology use, and follow-through. By the end of the week, each participant produces a reusable Google Meet Meeting Playbook: a meeting planning checklist, agenda template, facilitation script, participation plan, action-log template, and personal improvement plan for a real meeting they need to lead.
The course is suited to professionals who regularly lead, contribute to, or support online meetings and need a disciplined method rather than informal platform familiarity. It is particularly valuable for managers coordinating hybrid teams, client-facing staff conducting remote discussions, and project professionals who must convert virtual conversations into accountable work.

Requirements and prerequisites
This is a foundation to intermediate course and does not require formal communication training or advanced technical knowledge. Participants should be able to use a web browser, join a Google Meet link, operate a webcam and microphone, and work with basic Google Workspace functions such as Google Calendar invitations and Google Drive files. Access to a laptop with a reliable internet connection, camera, microphone, and a Google account is strongly recommended for live practice. Complete beginners are welcome; they should expect guided practice with core Google Meet controls before moving into facilitation and communication scenarios. Prior experience with recording, breakout rooms, or polling is not required.
Training methodology
The instructor demonstrates Google Meet features in a live meeting environment, then participants apply them in timed simulations. Short teaching segments cover communication frameworks, meeting roles, and platform controls before pairs and small groups practise briefing, chairing, challenging, and documenting realistic workplace scenarios. Participants rotate through host, presenter, participant, and note-taker roles, using Google Calendar, Meet, Slides, Drive, and collaborative boards. Facilitator observation sheets and peer feedback identify specific improvements. The final day converts each participant’s learning into a workplace-ready Meeting Playbook and application plan.
