Course overview
Government infrastructure programmes must reconcile capital budgets, procurement milestones, land access, safeguards, contractor interfaces, donor reporting and public-service deadlines. A schedule that merely lists activities is not sufficient when a road, water network, school programme or humanitarian facility depends on multiple delivery agencies and funding conditions. This course addresses the need to build, maintain and defend integrated Primavera P6 schedules that show realistic logic, resource constraints, critical paths and forecast completion dates for public-sector infrastructure portfolios.
Participants use Oracle Primavera P6 to structure projects around work breakdown structures, contractual packages, geographic work fronts and approval gates. They develop activity coding systems, calendars, logic networks, constraints, baselines, cost-loaded plans and resource assignments; then analyse progress with updates, schedule comparison, critical-path review and earned value metrics. The course also covers schedule quality testing against DCMA 14-Point principles, delay-risk identification, recovery scheduling and clear reporting for programme directors, funders, engineers and procurement teams.
Teaching combines instructor demonstrations with guided P6 builds based on a government-funded infrastructure case. Participants work with a supplied project dataset to create an auditable integrated master schedule, update it against a simulated reporting period, diagnose variances and produce management-ready layouts. Requirements and prerequisites

Advanced mathematics, programming, database administration and prior earned value certification are not required. A P6 training environment and case-study files are provided.
Training methodology
The instructor uses a realistic government infrastructure case involving design approvals, procurement lots, contractor mobilisation, utility interfaces and commissioning. Short demonstrations in Oracle Primavera P6 are followed by guided individual builds, where participants configure codes, create logic, set baselines and update progress. Small groups review a flawed contractor schedule using DCMA checks and prepare a recovery recommendation for a simulated programme board. The final session converts each participant's completed file into practical reporting outputs and an implementation plan for their own scheduling environment.

Day 2: Logic development and credible baseline planning

Day 4: Progress updates, schedule health and recovery analysis
