Course overview
Construction projects lose time and margin when inspection points are missed, work is released before evidence is complete, rework is discovered late, or productivity is reported without a reliable production baseline. Supervisors and project teams need to control both conformance and output at the workface: verifying that installed work meets drawings, specifications and approved methods while measuring whether crews are achieving planned quantities, labour hours and sequence dates. This course addresses the practical connection between quality control, work planning, field records and corrective action.
Participants learn to build a project quality control plan, translate specifications into inspection and test plans (ITPs), define hold points and witness points, and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs). They use checklists, material receiving records, submittal registers, inspection logs and punch-list workflows to create traceable evidence of compliance. The productivity element covers work breakdown structures, quantity-based production targets, labour productivity rates, short-interval planning, earned quantities, variance analysis and recovery actions. Participants also examine how poor sequencing, incomplete information, late materials and quality failures affect crew performance.
Instruction combines construction cases, plan-and-specification reviews, facilitated calculations and practical document workshops. Participants work through a realistic building-project scenario, using sample drawings, concrete and finishing work packages, inspection data and labour-hour records. They leave with a usable Quality and Productivity Control Pack: an ITP, trade checklist, NCR and corrective-action workflow, productivity tracker, two-week look-ahead and site reporting dashboard tailored for adaptation on their own projects.
The course is suited to personnel moving from field execution into quality, planning or project controls responsibilities, as well as experienced supervisors who need more disciplined methods for preventing rework and controlling production.

Requirements and prerequisites
This is a foundation-to-intermediate course. Participants should be able to read basic construction drawings, understand common specification sections, and recognise the sequence of site activities such as excavation, concrete, structural work, finishes or MEP installation. Familiarity with daily reports, inspection requests, quantities and labour hours is helpful but not essential. Participants should bring experience from a construction project, whether site-based or office-based, so they can apply the templates to a real work package. Advanced scheduling, statistical quality control, Primavera P6 expertise and prior ISO auditor training are not required.
Training methodology
The instructor leads focused sessions using construction drawings, specification extracts, sample inspection records and labour-production data rather than abstract quality theory. Participants build ITPs and checklists in small groups, inspect simulated work-package evidence, calculate planned-versus-actual output, and decide how to respond to an NCR and a slipping workfront. A running building-project case connects each day’s work. On the final day, each participant assembles and reviews an implementation-ready Quality and Productivity Control Pack for a selected trade or project area.

Day 1: Quality control foundations and project requirements

Day 2: Inspection planning and field verification

Day 4: Productivity measurement and short-interval control
