Course overview

Warehouse operations teams need more than basic inventory transactions to control complex sites. Participants work through the Warehouse Management module in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, from warehouse and location structures to work templates, location directives, wave templates, replenishment, load planning, cycle counting and mobile-device workflows. They learn how to use reservation hierarchies, unit sequences, inventory status, disposition codes, work pools and query-based filters to control inventory movement. The course also covers exception handling, warehouse execution monitoring, operational reporting and practical design decisions for high-volume or multi-site environments.

Instructor-led demonstrations are followed by guided configuration labs in a training environment and scenario-based workshops using realistic warehouse data. Participants build a documented warehouse process design, including key configuration choices, work and location-directive logic, mobile workflow steps and test scenarios for a selected warehouse operation. Requirements and prerequisites

Participants should have practical experience of warehouse operations such as receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, replenishment or cycle counting, and should understand core inventory concepts including item dimensions, units of measure, on-hand inventory and purchase and sales orders. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management navigation and basic inventory transactions is expected. Participants should be comfortable reading process flows and working with configuration forms. Prior programming, X++ development, Power Platform development and advanced SQL knowledge are not required. A training environment is used, so access to a production Dynamics 365 tenant is not required.

Training methodology

The course combines instructor-led configuration walkthroughs with hands-on work in a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management training environment. Each topic is introduced through a warehouse scenario, then participants configure records, release documents to the warehouse and review the work created by the system. Small-group case work focuses on resolving operational problems such as failed location directives, incomplete replenishment and counting discrepancies. Daily exercises build toward an end-of-course warehouse process design and test pack, with instructor feedback on configuration logic and operational fit.

Workshop: Configure a receiving warehouse with zones, locations, item setup and directed put-away rules, then produce a documented inbound process map.

Day 2: Work creation and mobile warehouse execution

Day 3: Outbound fulfilment, waves and shipping control

• Pick work creation, cluster picking and batch picking options
• Packing station setup and containerization processes
• Load confirmation, shipment confirmation and carrier handoff

Workshop: Configure and run an outbound fulfilment scenario from sales order release through wave processing, pick confirmation, packing and shipment confirmation.

Day 4: Replenishment, counting and inventory accuracy

Day 5: Monitoring, troubleshooting and warehouse solution design
