Course overview
UKG Pro HR administrators are expected to keep employee data accurate, make approved changes quickly, support managers and employees, and protect confidential information without disrupting payroll, benefits, reporting, or downstream integrations. That requires more than knowing where fields are located. Administrators need to understand how employee records, organisational structures, security roles, business processes, imports, and reporting settings interact so that routine requests are completed correctly and exceptions can be diagnosed before they become operational issues.
This five-day UKG Pro HR Management System Administration Training Course develops practical administration capability across UKG Pro Core HR. Participants work with People Center navigation, company and employee setup, job and organisational data, security concepts, workflow and business-process administration, document handling, audit activity, reporting, and controlled data maintenance. They learn to assess an HR request, identify its process and data dependencies, apply a secure configuration or transaction, validate the result, and document the action for colleagues, managers, or auditors.
Delivery combines instructor-led demonstrations with guided exercises in a UKG Pro training environment, realistic HR service scenarios, configuration discussions, and peer review of administration decisions. Each participant builds an HR administration runbook containing process maps, security checks, a data-change checklist, report specifications, and an issue-escalation log tailored to their own operating context. The course closes with an application-planning workshop that converts the runbook into prioritised actions for the participant’s first 30 days back at work.
The programme suits new and developing UKG Pro administrators, HR operations specialists, HRIS analysts, and team leads who need reliable operational control of Core HR administration. It is particularly valuable where responsibilities are moving from a vendor, implementation partner, or central HRIS team into an internal HR operations function.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Target competencies
Who should attend
- UKG Pro HR Administrators — who maintain employee records and configure routine Core HR processes
- HRIS Analysts — who troubleshoot data, security, workflows, and reporting in UKG Pro
- HR Operations Specialists — who process high-volume employee lifecycle changes accurately
- HR Systems Coordinators — who support local users and liaise with central HRIS or implementation teams
- HR Shared Services Team Leads — who need consistent controls, service procedures, and escalation routes
- Payroll and Benefits System Liaisons — who need to understand Core HR data dependencies before downstream processing
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should have basic HR operations knowledge, including the employee lifecycle, organisational structures, job and position data, confidentiality, and the difference between employee self-service and administrator activity. Prior exposure to UKG Pro as an employee, manager, or occasional administrator is helpful, but this course is suitable for newcomers to formal system administration. Participants should be comfortable using a web browser, spreadsheets, and basic filtering or sorting in Excel. No programming, SQL, API development, payroll configuration, or prior UKG Pro certification is required. Complete beginners should expect structured practice with Core HR terminology before progressing to configuration and troubleshooting decisions.
Training methodology
The instructor demonstrates each UKG Pro administrative task in a training environment, then participants complete guided transactions using realistic joiner, mover, leaver, data-correction, and access-request scenarios. Short technical briefings explain the control logic behind effective dates, security, workflow, and reporting before learners test decisions in pairs and compare results. Case discussions focus on the operational consequences of incorrect changes, including payroll and benefits dependencies. Daily exercises add artefacts to a personal administration runbook, and the final session turns that material into a workplace application plan.
