Course overview

Sales teams often lose momentum between enquiry, qualification, proposal and close because Zoho CRM records are incomplete, ownership rules are inconsistent, and follow-up depends on individual memory. Managers then lack a reliable view of pipeline health, conversion bottlenecks and sales activity. This five-day course addresses that operational gap by teaching participants to configure Zoho CRM around a defined sales process rather than simply adding fields or sending automated emails.

Participants learn to map lead-to-deal stages, design modules and layouts, standardise data capture, assign records by territory or workload, and automate routine work with workflow rules, Blueprint, scoring rules and cadences. They build approval paths for commercial exceptions, configure alerts and task creation, connect CRM actions to downstream services through Zoho Flow, and create reports and dashboards that expose ageing deals, stage conversion and representative performance. The emphasis is on choosing automation that improves seller execution without creating unmanageable rules or poor-quality data.

Teaching combines instructor demonstrations in Zoho CRM with guided configuration labs, peer design reviews and a realistic B2B sales-process case. Each participant develops a practical automation design for a selected sales motion, including a process map, field and validation specification, Blueprint stages, workflow logic and reporting requirements. The final implementation plan identifies owners, test cases, adoption measures and controls for a phased rollout.

The course is suited to sales operations professionals, CRM administrators, sales managers and marketing operations staff who already work with CRM data and need to make Zoho CRM a dependable operating system for revenue teams. It is especially valuable where a team is moving from informal follow-up to repeatable, measurable sales execution.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Map a lead-to-close sales process into Zoho CRM modules, fields, stages and ownership rules
  • Configure layouts, picklists, validation rules and conditional fields to improve sales-data quality
  • Build lead assignment rules using territory, product interest, source and workload criteria
  • Create workflow rules that trigger tasks, alerts, field updates and follow-up actions
  • Design and publish a Zoho CRM Blueprint with stage gates, transition criteria and mandatory actions
  • Apply scoring rules and cadences to prioritise qualified leads and structure seller follow-up
  • Develop sales pipeline reports and dashboards using conversion, ageing, activity and forecast measures
  • Produce a tested sales-process automation blueprint with governance, rollout and adoption measures

Benefits of attending

Who should attend

  • Sales Operations Managers — who need repeatable routing, stage governance and trustworthy pipeline reporting
  • Zoho CRM Administrators — who configure automation, data controls and user-facing CRM processes
  • Sales Managers — who need visibility of deal progression and consistent rep follow-up
  • Revenue Operations Specialists — who align lead management, sales execution and performance metrics
  • Marketing Operations Executives — who need qualified leads handed to sales with clear ownership and status rules
  • Business Systems Analysts — who translate sales requirements into configured CRM workflows and controls

Requirements and prerequisites

Participants should have working experience of a sales pipeline and be comfortable navigating Zoho CRM records, modules, list views, reports and basic setup menus. They should understand common sales concepts such as leads, accounts, contacts, deals, qualification stages, activities and conversion rates. Access to a Zoho CRM sandbox, trial organisation or training instance is strongly recommended for practice; administrator access is useful but not essential during the course. Prior coding, API development, database administration and Zoho Flow experience are not required. This is not a first-time CRM user course.

Training methodology

The instructor uses a working Zoho CRM training environment to demonstrate each configuration decision, then participants build the same capability in guided labs. A continuing B2B sales case supplies the leads, territories, products, approval exceptions and reporting questions used throughout the week. Small groups review automation designs against usability, data-quality and control criteria. Daily exercises produce configuration artefacts, while the final workshop turns these into a sequenced implementation plan with test scenarios, owners, measures and adoption actions.

Frequently asked questions

You should already be able to navigate records, modules, list views and standard reports in Zoho CRM, and understand how a sales pipeline works. The course starts with process and data design, not introductory navigation or first-time account setup.

Bring a laptop capable of accessing a browser-based Zoho CRM training environment. Administrator access to your own organisation is helpful for post-course application, but course labs can be completed in the provided training instance.

It is designed primarily for people who improve the sales process: CRM administrators, sales operations staff, revenue operations specialists and sales managers. Salespeople with responsibility for CRM process design or team adoption will also benefit.

A general administration course typically covers broad system setup across modules and users. This course concentrates on the operating mechanics of selling: lead routing, qualification, deal-stage governance, follow-up automation, approvals and pipeline performance reporting.

Yes. Participants use their own sales motion where appropriate and translate it into a process map, configuration specification and automation plan. The instructor also addresses how to rationalise existing workflows before adding new rules.

You leave with a documented sales-process automation blueprint covering fields, routing, workflows, Blueprint transitions, reports, testing and rollout actions. It can be used as a working brief for your CRM administrator, implementation partner or internal project team.
