This course equips participants to use Microsoft Power Platform as a governed low-code environment for improving workflows, capturing operational data and giving decision-makers timely insight without treating every requirement as a bespoke software project.
Participants learn how Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Dataverse work together to support an end-to-end transformation use case. They analyse a manual process, define roles and data requirements, design a canvas app, create approval and notification flows, model data in Dataverse, and build a Power BI dashboard with practical performance measures. The course also addresses environments, security roles, connectors, solution management, licensing considerations and the governance controls needed to scale citizen development responsibly.
Delivery combines instructor demonstrations with guided builds, team-based process redesign and scenario-led troubleshooting. Across the week, participants develop a working prototype for a business process such as service requests, asset inspections, employee onboarding or purchase approvals. The instructor uses a single business transformation scenario throughout the week so participants can see how process analysis, data design, app development, automation and reporting connect. Short technical demonstrations are followed by guided builds in Power Platform, with individual configuration tasks and group design reviews. Teams compare solution choices for usability, security and supportability, then troubleshoot realistic flow and data issues. The final session is an application-planning workshop in which each participant develops a scoped proposal for a workplace use case.

Day 1: Digital transformation use cases and Power Platform foundations

- Digital transformation use-case selection using value, feasibility, risk and adoption criteria
- Current-state process mapping with swimlanes, hand-offs, exceptions and bottlenecks
- Future-state workflow design and definition of measurable process outcomes
- Citizen development, fusion teams and accountability across business and IT
- Environments, tenants, connectors and the distinction between standard and premium capabilities
- Requirements capture through user stories, acceptance criteria and minimum viable product scope
Workshop: Participants map a manual business process, prioritise its pain points and produce a one-page Power Platform use-case charter.
Day 2: Data foundations and Power Apps canvas application design
- Dataverse tables, columns, data types, choice fields and required-field rules

- Data quality, ownership, retention and reference-data design decisions
- Canvas app screen planning for list, detail, create and edit user journeys

Workshop: Participants create a Dataverse data model and build the first working screens of a canvas app for their selected process.
Day 3: Workflow automation and operational control

Day 4: Power BI insight and governed solution delivery

- DAX measures for volumes, turnaround time, backlog, compliance and completion rates
