Course overview
Compensation teams need to translate pay policy into controlled, repeatable UKG Pro processes without relying on manual spreadsheets, inconsistent manager decisions, or last-minute cycle corrections. This course addresses the practical configuration work behind annual merit, bonus, promotion, and market-adjustment cycles: defining eligibility, building compensation plans, applying budget controls, presenting manager worksheets, and producing auditable outputs for HR and finance. Participants learn how to make UKG Pro Compensation support the organisation’s actual governance rules rather than forcing policy into generic system defaults.
Across five days, participants configure the core components of UKG Pro Compensation Management. They work with compensation cycles, plans, guidelines, eligibility rules, budgets, worksheets, manager access, approval paths, employee compensation statements, and reporting. The course also covers the data dependencies that determine whether a cycle works correctly, including job, organisation, salary, performance, and employee demographic data. Participants practise testing configuration decisions, identifying common calculation and visibility issues, and preparing a controlled launch process.
Delivery combines instructor demonstrations with hands-on configuration exercises in a UKG Pro training environment. Each activity uses a realistic compensation-cycle scenario, requiring participants to make decisions about plan design, guideline matrices, budget allocation, and manager workflow. By the end of the course, each participant leaves with a documented UKG Pro compensation-cycle configuration blueprint, including plan settings, eligibility logic, worksheet design, approval workflow, test cases, and a launch-readiness checklist that can be adapted for their own organisation.
The course is designed for HRIS and compensation professionals who already work with UKG Pro and need to configure or support compensation processes with greater confidence, control, and traceability.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Configure compensation cycles and plan settings for merit, bonus, and adjustment processes in UKG Pro
- Build eligibility rules using employee, job, organisational, and compensation data conditions
- Create guideline matrices that apply merit recommendations by performance rating, compa-ratio, or range position
- Allocate and monitor compensation budgets across organisational hierarchies and manager populations
- Design manager worksheets with appropriate columns, editable fields, alerts, and employee data visibility
- Set up compensation approval workflows, routing rules, and role-based access controls
- Generate employee compensation statements and validate their data, timing, and distribution settings
- Produce a compensation-cycle configuration blueprint with test cases and launch-readiness controls
Benefits of attending
For you
- Gain practical evidence of UKG Pro Compensation configuration capability beyond basic system navigation

Target competencies
Who should attend
- HRIS Analysts — who configure UKG Pro and need to support controlled compensation cycles
- Compensation Analysts — who translate pay policy, merit matrices, and budget rules into system configuration
- UKG Pro System Administrators — who maintain security, workflows, data readiness, and configuration quality
- Total Rewards Specialists — who need to operationalise salary review, incentive, and adjustment programmes
- HR Operations Managers — who oversee manager-facing compensation processes and escalation handling
- Payroll and HR Technology Leads — who need to validate downstream impacts of approved compensation changes
Requirements and prerequisites
Participants should have practical experience navigating UKG Pro and a working understanding of their organisation’s employee structure, job architecture, salary ranges, pay components, and compensation-review process. Familiarity with UKG Pro employee records, organisational hierarchies, role-based security, and standard reporting is strongly recommended. Attendees should be comfortable interpreting compensation concepts such as merit increases, bonus targets, compa-ratio, budgets, and approval levels. Prior UKG Pro Compensation configuration experience is not required. This is not a payroll-calculation course, and participants do not need programming, database administration, or advanced spreadsheet modelling skills.
Training methodology
The instructor uses short UKG Pro demonstrations followed by guided configuration labs in a training tenant. Participants configure a multi-division merit and bonus cycle, analyse policy requirements, build plans and guideline matrices, allocate budgets, and test manager worksheets and approvals. Case discussions focus on practical issues such as incomplete performance data, ineligible employees, budget overruns, and inappropriate worksheet access. Small-group design reviews compare configuration choices against policy intent. The final session converts each participant’s work into an implementation-ready configuration and testing plan.
